Does Cardio burns fat ?

This is a huge misconception with many new gym goers and continues to be today . Cardio has been the cornerstone associated with weight loss for as long as I can remember. It doesn’t matter if you’re exercising inside or out; Im sure you’ve heard or been told to do cardio. I’ve heard it time and time again, from fellow trainers, health professionals and even doctors; do cardio to loss weight! But does Cardio really burn fat? In short the answer is no. The key to weight loss is to be in a caloric deficit. Although doing Cardiovascular exercises will be helpful in this process if you’re nutrition isn’t ideal or you’re not monitoring your caloric intake to get into that deficit- no amount of cardio will help you. You know what they say - you can’t outrun a bad diet -

Doing too much cardio can actually cause more harm than good. Doing too much can cause an increase in stress hormones, cortisol for example , which is very catabolic and do not promote tissue growth . you will lose weight but also cause you to lose muscle mass. If you’re looking for that “toned” defined look then you might want to avoid excessive amounts of cardio. Remember weight is a combination of muscle, water and fat. [1] Burning into the muscle tissue isn’t the only problem - you could possible be slowing down your metabolism as well which will cripple your weight loss goal in the 1st place. You could also be decreasing your bone density and actually making yourself weaker. Cardio is healthy for you but like everything, all in moderation. And again if the goal is weight loss, focus on being in a caloric deficit adding cardio as well as weight training for better results.
